Peanut Butter Banana Bread Protein Smoothie

Monkey Love

I have a fondness for bananas. Banana pudding, banana pancakes, and peanut butter and banana sandwiches make me happy. I even love that God-awful banana flavored Laffy Taffy (praise the man who made up that doesn’t-taste-like-banana “banana” flavor). My husband, Bo, moderately tolerates plain bananas, but he does love banana bread… and he craves peanut butter. So I thought I would try to blend the best of both worlds by creating an ice-cold smoothie he would savor. Below you will see how to make this smoothie with either whey protein or with Greek yogurt.

Peanut Butter Banana Bread Smoothie with Whey Protein

  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla-flavored whey protein (I like Gold Standard)
  • One package Organic Maple Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal (Publix Greenwise makes an excellent one. I’ve seen this flavor at Whole Foods as well.)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. Natural Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (I like Saigon Cinnamon, which is spicier like a Red Hot, yum!)
  • 1/4 cold water

Blend all the ingredients together for two minutes on high. Pour in a fancy cup and take a sip. I believe you will find yourself quoting Gwen Stefani, “This Sh!t is Bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!”

Making it for the Kids? Or Don’t Have Whey – Use Greek Yogurt for Added Protein!

If you want to make this smoothie for the kids or do not have any whey protein, use 1/2 cup vanilla flavored Greek yogurt, or one small individual package of yogurt. I like Stonyfield Organic Greek 0% Fat Vanilla. Your kids will beg you to make this smoothie again!

Nutrition Facts

These nutrition facts were calculated at My Fitness Pal and are based on 2% milk. You could  substitute fat-free milk, and could also use a whole scoop of whey protein if you want an additional 12 grams of protein.
