About Nikky Manausa

Noles 18

I am a mom, wife, daughter, and teacher. I also happen to be a “wannabe” athlete, and I am trying to figure out how to balance it all. I have learned that life is often too short, and although there are some things we cannot control, we do have choices.

At 18, I decided I wanted to be healthy and thought I would give running a try. What do you know? I liked it! I kept on running the same pace over and over again until one day I realized I had the potential to run faster. I liked that idea A LOT!

In 2002, before I had children, I ran my first (pancake flat) 5K in 30:43. In 2010 I ran my first marathon in 4:20:57 with my husband and two children waiting for me at the finish line.

In 2012, I decided I was ready to reach my potential. I now hold personal records for the 5K in 21:18 and 3:25:45 in the marathon. Honestly, I always thought I was a back of the pack runner. Through determination and a lot of heart, I keep pushing myself forward.

My blog is here to tell my story of where I have come from and to journal where I am trying to go. Most importantly, I hope to inspire others to commit to being healthy for themselves AND their families. You only have one life to live, make it a healthy one!

Where did you find time to do this??? You’re amazing. I’m encouraged to get healthier. If only I could just put down the sweets!!! :-) Melissa

Hey Nikky,

The site is really looking good. You’ve certainly taken to this very fast! I can’t wait for you to start giving me some pointers (not on fitness of course …:) )

Joe, I look forward to that day… it may be many years, or decades. :)
